Orphan Sunday Go to Chapter

The event was hosted by the Centre County Orphan Care Alliance.

Our members volunteered at the annual Orphan Sunday event. This free family event was an opportunity for the community to learn more about their “on-ramps” to care for the fatherless locally, nationally and worldwide. They had representatives from different agencies offering opportunities for fostering, adoption, mentoring through Big Brother/Big Sister, international child sponsorship and wrap-around support for foster and adoptive families. To entertain the children while their parents listened to talks and visited with agencies, there were games, bounce houses and other inflatables, and babysitting. This requires a team of volunteers to keep the children safe and engaged in activities. That’s where Golden Key members left its impact as we ran the games and kept children safe on the inflatables! From this event, several families took the next step to foster, adopt, mentor and sponsor children from hard places.
