New University Relations Officer Spotlight: Amelia Yip

We are excited to introduce you to a new University Relations Officer that recently joined the Golden Key team! Amelia Yip joined us in April and she oversees Southern & Western Australia chapters in our Asia-Pacific office.  Get to know her better with this Q&A.
AYkangaroo.jpgWhere are you from/where did you grow up? I was born in Hong Kong, and grew up moving back and forth between Hong Kong and Sydney, Australia. I now live in Melbourne.
Where did you go to college? I went to Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia.
What did you study in school/ major in? I graduated with a Bachelor of Business (First Class Honours) majoring in Music Industry and Event Management.
What are some of the things you were involved in, in college? I coordinated an intervarsity Band Competition for three consecutive years and planned events like Orientation Festivals, Stall Days, Arts Week and service days. I ran networking activities for first-year and prospective students and trained up new volunteers in the Campus Host program. In my final year, I went on a short-term exchange to Michigan State University, which was an incredible experience!
What are your hobbies? Travel, music, festivals, volunteering and meeting new people!
What is your favorite sport? I love skiing, horse riding and wake-boarding.
What is your favorite movie? Little Miss Sunshine TV show? Game of Thrones, Modern Family and Suits
What are you most scared of? Heights and the bottom of the ocean!
What excites you the most about working at Golden Key? Having the opportunity to meet and work with some of the brightest minds from around the world, exploring so many new places, helping other people and watching them grow and develop! It’s such a rewarding job and an amazing team of people to work with.
Fun Fact. My first solo travel experience was spending six weeks in rural Thailand, living in volunteer bungalows with cold water showers and helping injured wild animals to restore their health. It opened up my eyes to the world and I’ve been addicted to travel and volunteering ever since!
Anything else we should know about you? I speak fluent English and Cantonese, I’ve studied Mandarin, French and Japanese, and have dabbled in Thai and Arabic. I hope to be fluent in five languages by the time I’m 40!
