Thanks for your interest in becoming a Golden Key Thought Leader and contributing content to Golden Key Academy!
We’ve put together some simple guidelines to help you create and submit content for the academy. If you have any questions, please feel free to email our content team on thoughtleaders@goldenkey.org
Written articles
* Please keep article length to 500-1000 words (unless otherwise discussed with a member of the GKA content team). Shorter articles are generally easier to consume and are more likely to be read.
* Make your copy positive, engaging and easy to read – Imagine you are talking to a younger friend or family member who has asked you for advice on a particular topic. How can you make it easy for them to understand and engage with you?
* Use short phrases and clear messaging.
* Breaking your topic up into sub points (eg 5 key points) can make it easier to navigate.
* Base the content on your own professional experience as much as possible and what you’ve learned over the years. What is the best advice you have to share? What have you learned?
* Use simple and relatable examples.
* Add bulleted lists to help break up dense copy chunks. Numbered lists should be formatted as number + period.
* Always include a conclusion.
* Read over your copy at least three or four times before submitting it. Ask a friend or family member to read it as well. Are you getting your message across? How could you make it simpler and more effective
Videos
* Please shoot all videos in horizontal format.
* Please supply the video file in as high a resolution as possible and as large a size as possible in a Youtube friendly format (.MOV .MPEG4 .MP4 .AVI .WMV .MPEGPS .FLV .3GPP .WEBM)
* Keep your video short and to the point: 3-5 minutes long is ideal; 10 minutes is maximum.
* Use a simple plain background (such as a white wall) or a vaguely academic background (such as a bookshelf, office or whiteboard). Please do not show your personal or family space in the background
* Make sure you have good lighting and that it is easy to see you.
* Prepare your content in advance and make sure you are clear on your key message. Write a short script to help you stay on track.
* For all video submissions, please include:
- Title – in less than 30 characters (this includes spaces)
- Short description – less than 128 characters (including spaces)
- Long description – this has no limit to the number of words, but we advise you to keep it relatively short
Here’s an example of a great instructional video:
- Please note that all submitted content must be original and created by you. If you have already published this content (or a version of this content) elsewhere, please let us know.
- Also, the GKA content team reserves the right to edit your article, including grammar, spelling, and formatting, and to choose a title that suits our style and curriculum.
- Pitching and submitting an article to GKA does not guarantee it will be published. All content will be carefully considered for publication, and we will let you know if we are unable to access any submitted content.
Submission process
Please send your copy as a word document to thoughtleaders@goldenkey.org and write “Article submission – Article name” in the subject line (For example: “Article submission – The three best ways to negotiate a pay rise”).
Together with your article, please submit:
– A professional headshot
– A short bio (max 80 words)
– The link to your LinkedIn profile
Please note that when you submit content to Golden Key Academy you give full permission to Golden Key International Honour Society to publish this content and use it in any format.
Example of a short bio: Penelope Chan is a registered psychologist who specialises in stress management and relaxation techniques. She is currently completing a PhD at Flinders University and has been a member of Golden Key since 2013. Click here to view Penelope’s LinkedIn profile.
