Climate change and global terrorism are two pertinent threats in modern times. In conjunction with the British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Robert Court, Golden Key ANU organised a Round Table Debate on Wednesday 1st September 2004 to discuss the relative impacts of both threats upon future generations. Twenty Golden Key members were divided into teams representing global lobby groups and asked to explore the topic with respect to their organisation's target objectives. The groups represented included: North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, Multinational Corporations, Engineers / Scientists, The World Health Organisation and Developing Nations. The students came from diverse educational backgrounds, yet all participated with zest and intellectual rigour. They were engaged in deeper analysis and synthesis of contemporary international issues aimed at broadening global awareness. They were also able to network with each other and professional staff. What an invaluable opportunity! Throughout the evening both conversation and drinks flowed freely and a delicious buffet was provided. Golden Key ANU are extremely grateful for the generosity of the British High Commission for their sponsorship and for being gracious hosts of this event.
