Congratulations to the 2009 winners:
Fiction: Omar-Shukri McIntosh - Simmons College ($1,000)
Omar-Shukri comments, "I am overjoyed to have won this scholarship.  First for the praise I have garnered of my storytelling ability.  And second because I have more money for college.  Indeed this award's entirety will be going towards tuition.  And I need every cent I can get!  Thanks a million."
Non-Fiction: Amanda Phillips - California State University San Marcos ($1,000)
Amanda comments, "I am very excited about winning this award. It's an honor to be selected for the 2009 Golden Key Literary Achievement Award in Non-fiction. I have always loved writing. Golden Key International Honour Society has provided numerous opportunities and I'm proud to be a member. I plan on using this award towards graduate school applications and research."
Newswriting: Christopher Maloney - Roosevelt University ($1,000)
Christopher comments, "I am honored to be the recipient of 2009 Golden Key Literary Achievement Award in News Writing. I would like to thank the staff of Golden Key for their commitment to the organization. Their hard work and dedication has made Golden Key a global leader in promoting education. The generous prize money will be used to help further my education at Roosevelt University in Chicago. I am a graduate student in the journalism program and the professors at Roosevelt have been instrumental in helping me develop my writing skills, especially since I made a career change in my late 30’s. The Golden Key recognition has increased my confidence and hopefully, I can use it as a springboard to achieve my goal of becoming a successful media professional."
Poetry: Arrica Bailey - University of Oklahoma ($1,000)
Arrica comments, "I am overjoyed to be the recipient of this year's Literary Achievement Award and grateful for this affirmation of my talent. Winning this scholarship will assist me financially as I continue to pursue a Masters in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. I am not only further motivated to believe in myself and my capabilities; I am encouraged to continue towards my goal of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. What an honor! Thank you Golden Key International Honor Society!"
