I intend to specialize in Emergency Medicine with emphasis on public health. Sunny comments, "This is amazing. Not only has Golden Key given me the opportunity to participate in various activities, organize meaningful fundraisers, support colleagues and charities, and interact with academics; the Society has also awarded me a prestigious international scholarship! As a proud holder of the Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award, I will continue to promote Golden Key and stay active within our student chapter. The funds will go towards tuition as well as assisting me to go to several important conferences for nanotechnology and Micro total analysis systems. In addition to the possibility of presenting my work, these conferences will expose me to new and exciting ideas in my field of study which involves leading-edge technologies." |
| Benjamin Lenderman - Indiana State University ($10,000) |
| Erin Odor - Ohio State University ($10,000) |
Erin comments, "I am extremely honored to have been chosen as a recipient of the Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award. As a first-year master's student in Ohio State's East Asian Studies program, I will use this grant for both educational expenses during the academic year and an intensive Chinese language program in Qingdao, China, during summer 2009. By funding these programs, the award will better prepare me to pursue a Ph.D. in comparative literature and to further research textual circulation between China and Europe. Golden Key has been an integral part of my undergraduate experience, giving me the opportunities to develop leadership and project management skills and to network with individuals on campus, across the nation, and around the world. For these reasons, being recognized by the Society is especially meaningful, and I am grateful for its contribution to my graduate studies." |
| Dimitri Schritt - University of Canterbury ($10,000) |

Dimitri comments, "It is a great honour to be granted the Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award. To receive this highly coveted prize has been a dream ever since I joined Golden Key in March 2005. Having recently enrolled for a Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Mathematical Physics, the money will help support my research over the next three years. I hope to also remain involved with my local chapter and provide support whenever I can. I wish to express my deepest gratitude to my chapter for their support and to Golden Key for considering me worthy of this prestigious award." |
| Natalie Spillman - The Australian National University ($10,000) |

I am currently undertaking a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Australian National University, focusing on the biochemistry and physiology of the malaria parasite. This scholarship will allow me to present my research at an overseas conference. This award means a great deal to me as Golden Key has given me countless opportunities to engage in a variety of projects and I am grateful that Golden Key will now give me the opportunity to continue my research." |
| Elizabeth Terschuur - Towson University ($10,000) |
Elizabeth comments, "I am so humbled and honored to have been given a Graduate Scholar Award from Golden Key this year because I am sure there were many talented applicants. Being an independent choreographer and artist pursuing my M.F.A. at UCLA this fall, the Graduate Scholar Award has ensured that I can give full, undivided attention to my studies in choreography, cognitive studies, and autism. The award will go towards on campus housing costs and books thereby affording the much needed time to create and also volunteer at the Staglin Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at UCLA as a part of my research in dance and autism. I am so proud to join Golden Key and its very talented list of Graduate Scholars and I look forward to life long engagement and work with the Society nationally and internationally. Thank you so much!" |
