Stan comments, "In making an impact on public health, part of the Golden Key Community Service Award will go towards the non-profit organization the Ghana Health & Education Initiative (GHEI) to help fund a pilot program, “Prevention of Childhood Disease through Handwashing,” to be implemented in a rural village in Ghana this summer. The second part of the award will help defray the costs of traveling to Africa this July-August to oversea the project. I am truly thankful for the support provided by the Golden Key Society to its members. I have seen that even the poorest here in the US would be wealthy in comparison to the indigent elsewhere; yet despite the plight of the impoverished, we must never forget their inherent dignity. This award is not only a testament to Golden Key’s commitment to serving our communities, but also reaffirms a commitment to serving all those in the greater global community unified in our common humanity." |
