Canadian Post-Graduate Study Award

Congratulations to the 2009 winners:
Elizabeth Hutchins-Croft - Yorkville University ($1,500 CAN)

Elizabeth comments, "I am extremely honored to have been chosen as a 2009 Golden Key Canadian Post-graduate Study Award recipient. This scholarship will support me in my pursuit to provide increased access to quality supports and services for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing population. The financial component of this award will be used for expenses related to my studies in the Master of Science in Deaf Education program at Texas Women’s University and the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program at Yorkville University. I plan to use my training and credentials from these two graduate programs to provide holistic support services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing clients and their families in the areas of psychology, education, language and literacy development, and early intervention. I also plan to conduct research on a number of related topics in an effort to improve the quality, accessibility and variety of supports and services that are available for this population."
Laurah John - Bishop's University ($1,500 CAN)

Laurah comments, "As a 2009 recipient of this Golden Key Award, I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity to make a further monetary contribution to my post-graduate studies. With the hopes of pursuing a Masters in Development Studies, tuition fees are thousands of dollars more than a financially independent student such as myself can afford. I intend to add this money to my savings for post-graduate study. I believe my post-graduate experience will provide me with the necessary practical knowledge for development management and alternative community development planning which I hope to take to Saint Lucia and perhaps other Caribbean islands. This award has provided an opportunity for one passionate individual to gain the knowledge necessary to impart an alternative and more culturally relevant vision to others. Once again, I am deeply grateful for this award. Thank to Golden Key International Honour Society."
