Jacqui comments, "I have recently graduated from Deakin University with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, in the fields of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy.  My thesis was entitled 'Applications and Fundamental Understanding of Selected Analytically Important Chemiluminescence Reactions' and it encompassed a series of investigations into the chemistry and spectroscopy of chemical reactions that produce light (chemiluminescence).  The new knowledge presented in this thesis enabled the development of innovative analytical methodologies for rapid chemical measurements in forensic science, industrial process monitoring and clinical diagnostics.

As a scientist, I feel that I have both an opportunity and an obligation to initiate positive change through an increased understanding of our natural environment and the responsible use of technology.  In this way, I believe that I can use my qualifications and knowledge for the benefit of society as a whole."
