What is Make A Difference Day?
Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October.

This year, a group of Golden Key staff from headquarters set out to make a difference in the Atlanta metro area by getting involved with the Hands On Atlanta Discovery Tutoring Program.
The Hands On Atlanta Discovery Program is a Saturday morning tutoring program. Volunteers work with Pre-K through 5th grade students from 10:00 AM - noon on reading, writing and math. They also mix in fun things like art projects, science experiments, technology days and field trips. Golden Key staff hope that their chapters will continue to make a difference on this worthwhile day, but also throughout the year.

Chapters are encouraged to conduct literacy-focused activities to meet the chapter standard in this area or could elect to support other types of service efforts. The important idea is to join together and support our communities!
