Looking for a fundraiser and education-based service project?
Running a bookdrive with Better World Books is part fundraiser, part education-based service project and totally simple. Your Golden Key AD and Better World Books Regional Director will support your chapter every step of the way. The 155 US and Canadian chapters that have conducted book drives with us since 2005 know that the project is fun, easy...and has a direct and powerful impact! Carpe Librum, seize the books!
BWB will provide your chapter with ALL the necessary backup and support for an extremely successful book drive, including: staff assistance and semester-long guidance from your Better World Books Regional Director; all marketing materials (posters, fliers, buttons, etc.); collection and shipping boxes; freight to our Indiana-based collection center and a paid pizza planning session. It doesn't get more turnkey than this! All you have to do is agree to implement the already proven Better World Books program on your campus!

How much will chapters earn for participation?
Chapters will be paid $0.50 per qualifying book, which translates into payouts like those in the table below.

An education-focused service initiative
Better World Books is an organization that collects millions of used books to benefit literacy programs in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the United States. By selling donated books online, Better World Books is able to create a sustainable funding steam that literacy programs can rely on to support their missions. Better World Books has also donated over 500,000 books directly to those in need in Africa and here in the United States.
A book drive organized by your chapter provides support to global literacy organizations like Books for Africa, Room to Read, World Education and Development Fund or the National Center for Family Literacy. Your chapter decides which literacy partner will benefit from the book drive on your campus. And, for every qualifying book collected, your chapter earns $.50.
How does a book drive work?
Once you’ve chosen a literacy partner and submitted the Group Agreement Form, a book drive has 5 Easy Stages:
1. Get more people involved: Try to get another organization on board - the more volunteers, the better!
2. Organize the drive: Hold a Planning Session - invite all volunteers, delegate drive activities and have fun!
3. Promote the drive: Get out the word! Post flyers, send emails and creatively publicize the drive.
4. Start collecting books: Set out the collection boxes & posters at least a week before finals & buybacks.
5. Ship the books: Check on the boxes & pack up books as they come in – UPS will pick them up!
Below are a couple of examples that demonstrate the impact your chapter can have by collecting qualifying books through a campus book drive:
