The Washington Center maintains a vital role in service to society as a whole, developing the workforce of the future and encouraging all of its participants to be informed, public spirited and civically engaged. The Washington Center's diverse, highly-motivated interns contribute significantly to their placements in governmental agencies, businesses and nonprofit organizations, and they often prove to be of longer-term interest as prospective employees. While completing their full-time internship, Washington Center students take an academic course and participate in programming activities including lectures, community service, embassy visits and special tours. Students typically receive a full semester’s or term’s worth of credit from their home institutions—and gain invaluable real-world work experience.
